All The Bikey Gloriousness of the Ohio Wheelmen Memorabilia Meet
Pre-Wonderful Moon lit our path.The alarm went off at 3:00 A.M., we grabbed the last of our tripe, loaded the giant cargo van with our necessities and rolled out of the driveway a teeny-weeny before 4. In the van was an 1866ish Boneshaker Velocipede, an 1885ish Baron Mail Ordinary, and 1950 handmade, 8 foot Quad. A mini betray on the history of cycling in Akron was shoved between the assortment of handlebars, pedals, and rattling metal. We had a three hour travel to the town of New Bremen ahead of us, with no clear conviction of what we were getting ourselves into.
We stopped at a rather wretched McDonald's for a snack (yeah, their breakfast is still filthy) and some coffee before pulling into New Bremen at 7:00am. The Bicycle Museum is located on Largest Street in the heart of the historic town, next to the Miami & Erie Canal towpath. The whole township seems locked in time, as every building is preserved in its actual form. Actually, it reminded us of a Shady Zone episode. Here's the outside of the museum:
