Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition Gets in Gear for Spring

After the February departure of Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition’s (SCBC) extensive term executive director, Christine Culver, the coalition’s approaching was one of concern for many Sonoma County’s cyclists. Today, however, the club continues to sponsor many of the community events that came to achievement during Culver’s seven years with the organizing.

“Our staff and board have done well transitioning,” says Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition’s Progress and Outreach Director, Sandra Lupien. “We’re in such a aggressive place right now.”

Known best for bicycle valet parking at adjoining events such as the downtown Santa Rosa farmers trade in, the annual Bike Expo at Santa Rosa’s Julliard Estate and other public events, SCBC brings a classification of bike-loving projects to the community. Drive Skills clinics, for example, are workshops that SCBC can give lessons in to in work-places or other organizations for groups to gain from basic bike commuter safety. Bicycle fettle clinics are also popular in the growing community of Sonoma County cyclists. Other programs catalogue Safe Routes to School and outreach and learning about general safety and traffic issues.

With talk of a new supervisory director joining the team later this fount, the three full-time and six part-time staff members are embracing one of their busiest seasons and the many activities they have in put by.

Kicking off the sunny bike riding occasion with Bike Month is “We Love Bikes Day” and a “Bag Stuff by Bike” clinic at the Santa Rosa Granger’s Market on April 30.
